Chapter 7
Worship and the year
The week's main gathering is the heart of the game, whether it's Friday's Jumu'ah, Shabbat morning, a gurdwara's Sunday diwan, a temple's Sunday puja or sabha, a zendo's sitting, or a Sunday service; and for a temple, a gurdwara, or a shrine that receives people all day, its open hours are the heart too. Everything people feel is scored after a service or a visit. This chapter covers how each tradition worships, daily services and open hours, the free meal, choosing the sermon, the rites at the heart of each faith's worship (communion among them), the year and its feasts, dressing the building for the season, and weddings and funerals. The game uses your tradition's own words throughout (khutbah, Shabbat service, diwan, puja, dharma talk, Mass; prayer hall, sanctuary, darbar hall, shrine hall); this chapter uses the general words of Getting started and each faith's own where they differ, and Faiths and traditions sets out each faith's week and year in full.
